Acupuncture and Classical Chinese Medicine
My approach to acupuncture is based in the 5 Element Acupuncture System developed by J.R. Worsley over decades of study and clinical practice. This system is based on the fundamental 5 elements in nature (Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood) as observed and identified by Chinese Medicine practitioners over many centuries.
This system identifies an underlying “CF” or causative factor for a patient’s condition; often manifesting as imbalance on the physical, emotional and/or spiritual levels.
The diagnostics and treatment techniques of 5 Element Acupuncture are somewhat different from other systems of Chinese Medicine currently being practiced in the U.S., but this powerful approach allows for incredible transformational healing in a wide array of patient health concerns.
One of the differences of this system of acupuncture treatment is that the practitioner stays in the room with the patient for nearly the entire treatment, which can be very reassuring for patients who don’t wish to be left alone in the treatment room when the acupuncture needles are in place.
Another unique feature of this system is its emphasis on supporting the body’s energy reserves through multiple rounds of direct moxa applied to specific acupuncture points (if you’re unsure of what moxa is, please refer to my blog post on this topic in the blog section).
