What is Xeomin®?

Xeomin® is an injectable medication used by healthcare professionals to treat moderate to severe glabellar or frown lines. When you squint or frown, the muscles between your eyebrows contract, causing the skin to fold. As your skin ages and begins to lose some of its elasticity, the eyebrow muscle contractions can cause persistent frown lines.

Botulinum toxin type A – the active ingredient in Xeomin®– helps prevent the muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing the number and strength of these muscle contractions, Xeomin® reduces the lines between your eyebrows.

Are Xeomin® Injections Painful?

Xeomin® injections are very quick (10-20 minutes for the actual treatment time) and are very tolerable, patients often describe a mild sting during the injection that dissipates within a couple of minutes.

Will Xeomin® make me look “plastic” or unnatural?

Xeomin® cosmetic injections offer relaxed, natural results when you are treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and has expertise in facial anatomy and evaluation. After treatment, you’ll look like yourself—only with less noticeable wrinkles/fine wrinkles. Xeomin® and other neurotoxins are the most widely used procedure for moderate to severe frown lines and have been shown to be effective in many studies.

Are Xeomin® injections only for women or certain age groups?

Not at all! Adult men of all ages use Xeomin® and other neurotoxin injectables to treat fine lines/wrinkles.

Xeomin® or Botox®?

Many patients prefer Xeomin® over BOTOX® as a part of what they do to care for their appearance as Xeomin® has a quicker onset of action (3-4 days) and some studies show a longer duration.

Additionally, Xeomin® has fewer additives making some feel it is a more “pure” or “natural” option.

Xeomin® is also less expensive and requires a similar number of units of medication per treatment area. Talk to Dr. Lindsay about which neurotoxin option might be the best for you.

How long does it take to see the results of Xeomin®? How long do the results last?

You will begin to notice results within 3-4 days, results can last up to 4 months for moderate to severe frown lines. Remember that results vary from patient to patient though, so Dr. Lindsay will plan your next appointment based on your results and aesthetic goals.

How long is the recovery time after treatment with Xeomin®?

Treatment requires minimal downtime. So you can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave your specialist’s office. You should avoid high-intensity exercise for 24 hours post-treatment as well as avoid lying down for 4 hours after your injections are complete.

What is the cost of Xeomin® with Dr. Lindsay?

Xeomin® is typically priced per unit and this is based on the injectors’ experience and level of expertise. The number of units needed for a treatment area is typically 2x what is needed with BOTOX® Cosmetic but is also much less expensive per unit. Treatment cost will be determined during the consultation portion of the visit with Dr. Lindsay. There are additional per-unit discounts if patients choose to inject 100+ units during a visit.

Dr. Lindsay will send an intake form to fill out before your visit for Xeomin® injections. She will determine eligibility for this treatment based on intake paperwork and her in-office evaluation.
