What is a dermal filler?

This is a compound (usually in gel form) that is “biocompatible” meaning it can be injected and incorporated into the body to help improve facial volume loss, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and augment facial features.

I use HA or hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. HA is a compound naturally produced by our own bodies, it attracts and holds water, thereby creating volume and smooth youthful looking skin. When we use an HA filler where the collagen and elastin has broken down, (creating wrinkles, lines and depressions in the face), the effect is a smooth, youthful and plump or voluminous skin and contour.

Juvederm Volubella XC and Juvederm Ultra XC

Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Volubella XC are both injectable gel that is FDA approved for lip augmentation and correction of perioral lines in adults over aged 21.

What’s in it?

JUVÉDERM Ultra XC is a sterile, biodegradable, nonpyrogenic, viscoelastic, clear, colorless, homogeneous gel implant. It consists of cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) produced by Streptococcus species of bacteria, formulated to a concentration of 24 mg/mL and 0.3% w/w lidocaine in a physiologic buffer.

Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine is a sterile pyrogen-free physiological solution of cross- linked hyaluronic acid (HA) which is not of animal origin.

What is a treatment with filler like?

These are injection treatments and multiple areas can be done in one treatment based on your goals, time and tolerance. All the fillers Dr. Lindsay uses in office contain lidocaine and topical numbing cream is applied before each injection.

Are the results immediate?

You will see immediate results in office with each of the dermal fillers, but the final result will not be visible for 3-5 days after treatment. Dermal fillers will cause swelling which can fluctuate over the first few days after treatment. Patients often choose to add additonal filler after their first treatment, after health and swelling has been completed.

How long do dermal fillers last?

The results of Hyaluronic Acid fillers last for 1-2 years, but do not stop the natural course of aging. Further lines and wrinkles will develop between treatments, but Dr. Lindsay will go over all your skincare treatment options to give you your best results.

How much does a treatment with dermal filler cost?

Each 1 milliliter syringe of dermal filler costs between $600-$700 depending on the specific product being used. The average number of milliliters for a lip enhancement or treatment of perioral lines is 2.4ml.
